Carta’s ownership and fund administration records play a different role from a team’s operational notes. A cap table, administrator balance, or official statement should retain its authoritative source and as-of date. A collaboration tool should not quietly convert a copied value into a replacement legal or accounting record.

For a fictional follow-on discussion, the team might use permitted Carta statements alongside a founder update. Uranus preserves the uploaded originals and the decision rationale, and assigns the questions needed before the next review. Its fund-planning screen separates entered commitments, called capital, cash, reserves, and costs. Those inputs remain planning assumptions, to reconcile with the administrator.

Carta export and data-access paths vary by product and authorization. Obtain the correct fund or company scope from its administrator. Keep warehouse credentials within the firm’s approved environment; a customer-run export or approved data-sharing route is preferable to copying powerful warehouse credentials into a new application. Check schema and period definitions with a permitted fixture. The current release offers a Carta export guide and generic files, rather than a native Carta connection, automated accounting, or legal-right execution.

A first import you can review

  • For Portfolio Insights, use Request for Information to download processed financial CSV and original company source files.
  • For fund data, choose an entitled API or approved warehouse export; distinguish holdings and fund statements from founder operating KPIs.
  • Prefer a customer-run warehouse export or approved data-share arrangement. Do not submit warehouse private keys to Uranus.

What Uranus adds today

Review the mapping, units, currency, and reporting month before committing. New metrics remain candidates until a workspace owner reviews them. Preserve originals and source identifiers, keep the requested next evidence visible, and attach a reviewed resolution when the work is complete. Export canonical records and version history when you need to move the work again.

Verify the actual entitlement, export schema, and effective permissions with the firm’s administrator. Native formats require customer fixtures before claiming automatic compatibility.
